The aim of this study was to analyze the physical characteristics of the fruits of cocoa and co- coa producing clonal CCN - 51 submitted to irrigation and nitrogen fertigation applied in semi - arid of Bahia in an experiment conducted in the field on the property in Vale do Sol, Jequié, BA. The statistical experimental design was randomized blocks in a 4x4 factorial with treatments consisting of the sheets of water (L1 = 1146.35 mm, L2 = 1335.66 mm 1525.58 mm = L3, L4 = 1717.58 mm) and the nitrogen (N1 = 249.3 kg ha - 1 , N2 = 307.2 kg ha - 1 , N3 = 365.0 kg ha - 1 , N4 = 422.9 kg ha - 1 ), with four replications. Nitrogen doses and the in- teraction between them with water slides positively influenced the number of seeds per fruit, number of fruits per plant and weight of almonds per fruit; water slides influenced the number of fruits per plant clonal cacao CCN - 51. The water slides, nitrogen and the interaction between these positively influenced the production of dry almonds of cocoa clonal CCN - 51. Treatment L3 N3 showed higher productivity of cocoa almonds for sale with 1025.69 kg ha - 1 .

Aiming to evaluate the sorghum intercropping on the line in two seeding dephts of brachiaria species, a trial was conducted on the field in february 2009 in Rio Verde, GO. The experimental design used was randomized blocks in factorial scheme 2x3+1+3, with four replications, being made up two brachiaria sowing depths (2 and 10 cm), three brachiaria species (Brachiaria decumbens, B. brizantha cv. Marandu and B. ruziziensis) intercropped with the sorghum DKB 599, plus four additional treatments of sorghum and brachiaria monocultures. At 52 days after to harvest the sorghum grains, it was made up the cutting on brachiaria at 30 cm from the soil to explore the regrowth of plants in off-season cultivation, and further evaluation of forage yield at 36 days after the cutting. The intercropping in the line with B. brizantha, at 2 or 10 cm sowing depth, and with B. decumbens, sown at 2cm, appeared as the most promising for sorghum grain production. The brachiaria and sorghum intercropping in the line increased the total dry matter and crude protein yields. The regrowth of brachiaria plants in the intercropping showed to be a technique viable for forage production and soil cover in dry season at Brazil cerrado.

The indiscriminate use of pesticides is a major environmental problems in the conventional agricultural production systems. The Integrated Production (IP) emphasizes the reduced use of pesticides based on monitoring of pests and diseases. This study aimed to quantify the percentage of reduction in pesticide use in vine growing companies in the region of the São Francisco Submédio Valley after the introduction of IP- Grape. For the survey data were used passbooks field of nine companies in the region checking the number of applications during the production cycle of the years 2006 to 2009, compared to when there was no IP-Grape. In 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 decline of 10, 20, 25 and 16% respectively, in the number of fungicide applica- tions, while the spraying of insecticides decreased 99, 95, 93 and 76%. Herbicides had the greatest rationaliza- tion (85%) in 2006, reaching 100% in 2007, 2008 and 2009, in other words from the year 2007. The rationali- zation in acaricides use was not recorded. Thus, the IP-Grape has achieved positive results in relation to the rational use of pesticides.

The municipal district of Mossoró - RN is inserted into the Caatinga biome and like other coun- ties its vegetation is notably mischaracterized. Thus a phytosociological study of forest remnants was conduct- ed in Mossoró, seeking knowledge of forest wealth for possible conservation. Bibliographic and cartographic materials were consulted, as well as maps were used for better spatial visualization of forest remnants. Areas where there are forest remnants were highlighted and four sites were chosen to characterize the vegetation. At these sites, the phytosociological study was conducted by installing plots of 20 x 20 m, within which were esti- mated height and diameter at breast height (DBH) of all living individuals of the shrub and herbs layers. The phytosociological parameters considered were: Margal ef and Menhinick Diversity Index, Frequency, Density, Dominance and Coverage and Importance Percentage Index. It was found that Poincianella pyramidalis (Tul.) and Croton sonderianus Mull. Arg. have excelled in number of individuals, frequency and density. Poincianel- la pyramidalis (Tul.) was the one that stood out in most of the analyzed parameters. Species that stand out in an area are found at low frequency in the other. This variation can be probably explained by several factors, one of them may be the anthropic level among the studied areas. Diversity indices indicated that Point 4 showed the greatest diversity and the lowest point 3. However, the Caatinga vegetation of the areas analyzed has low diver- sity, probably by the effects of human disturbance, but with proper planning and managements could avoid its complete disappearance.

The morphogenesis determines the model of plant growth, and is, among other factors, under the influence of nutrient availability. In this context, the aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of using wastewater from the dairy industry (RLL) as a supplier of nutrients in the morphogenesis of grass Mombaça. For this we studied six doses of liquid dairy waste, corresponding to: 10, 50, 100, 150, 200 and 400 m³ ha-1 evaluated in four production cycles and compared to chemical fertilizer. The treatments were arranged in a completely randomized design with four replications compounds. We measured the characteristics of expansion and leaf appearance, leaf senescence, stem elongation and tillering. The application of wastewater from the dairy industry has positively influenced the leaf elongation rate, leaf appearance rate, stem elongation rate and the rate of tillering. A reduction in the rate leaf senescence and the phyllochron in the grass. The application of 400 m³ ha-¹ RLL guarantees satisfactory morphogenic indices in intensive grazing system, replacing up to 25% of phosphorus and potassium fertilization of 100%, having also a positive residual effect on the growth of grass. The liquid waste is a potential supplier of dairy grazing potassium for the pastures.

The aim of this work was compare the buffaloes and cow’s milk quality. The samples were from cross buffaloes (Jaffarabadi x Murrah) and cow’s (Frisian x Zebu), collected from 2012 April to June.Was determined milk chemical composition (lactose, fat, protein, total solid and milk solids), physical characteris- tics (pH, density and milk acidity). The data were submitted to variance analyze, using F - test (P<0.05). The buffaloes present more level of the fat, protein, lactose, milk solids than cows. In relations to hipercholester- olemics fatty acids, the buffaloes presented hight level to the C16:0 and Lower levels of c12 and c14 than cows. Higher levels to the vacenic and rumenic acid were observed in buffaloes Milk than cows. In spite of a higher content of saturated fatty acids, the milk of water buffaloes showed lower ratio n6/n3 and lower choles- terol when compared to cow. The milk of buffalo and cow showed adequate nutritionally These results indi- cate the need for the creation of specific legislation for the buffalo milk.

This paper describes the composition of fatty acids in oil extracted from seeds of carnaúba ( Copernicia prunifera (Miller) H. E. Moore), an important palm species native to Northeastern Brazil. After extracting the crude oil, the physico - chemical characteristics (density, refraction index, pH, acidity and saponi- fication index) were registered and the chemical composition of the fatty acids was determined by gas chroma- tography (GC - FID). The predominance of saturated fatty acids does not make carnaúba seed oil a promising alternative for the food industry, and the small yield obtained (approx. 5%) may constitute a limiting factor for commercial exploitation, but carnauba seed oil could potentially be used in the production of biofuels, cosmet- ics and detergents.

It characterization of the variability of soil attributes is necessary so that we can interpret the possible causes of variations in crop yields, because the soil has, naturally, heterogeneity its attributes. Thus, the objective of this study was analyze the spatial variability and dependecy, through the tool GS+, the physical attributes of a typic fluvia underwent two systems use and management of soil: disking and mowing lines. The area managed by disking for over 10 years has 0.5 ha and the area mowing between the lines 13 years ago has 2.3 ha both located on the systematic plan of Experimental Farm in the Valley Curu, Pentecoste. Soil samples were taken in both disturbed and undisturbed areas obeying the spacing of 15 x 15 m, 21 in the area with har- rowing and 78 in the area by mowing between the rows. The density was the only attribute which there wasn’t spatial dependence structure. The other attributes (sand, clay, silt, micro and macroporosity and gravimetric soil moisture and the mechanical resistance to penetration) showed spatial dependence of medium until high. It was observed in the mowing area is made between the lines showed lower values macroporosity and high penetra- tion resistance, the constraint condition for the growth of roots.

The silicon fertilization has a beneficial effect in enhancing the resistance of plants to diseases, however, this effect can be reduced in the presence of high levels of nitrogen. Given the above, this study aimed to investigate the effect of silicated and nitrogen fertilization in control of rice blast in irrigated system. Plants were grown in an area of tropical lowland and evaluated as to the severity of leaf blast incidence on pan-1 of calcium and magnesium silicate associated with 45 kg ha - 1 of nitrogen topdressing on had lower severity of leaf blast and higher grain yield compared to plants not supplemented with silicon. The combination of silicated fertilization with 90 kg ha - 1 of nitrogen topdressing resulted in a greater incidence of panicle rice blast. After analyzing the results, it was concluded that supple- mentation with silicon and nitrogen promoted reduction in the severity of blast in rice plants in irrigation sys- tem without affecting the yield.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of desalination wastewater on the post harvest quality and conservation of lettuce, cultivars Verônica and Quatro Estações, produced in hydroponic system with coconut fiber. The test was developed in an protected environment from the Department of Environmental Sciences of Universidade Federal Rural do Semi-Árido, located in Mossoró/RN, installed in an experimental design of randomized blocks, in factorial scheme 2 x 2 x 5, with three replicates, the treatments consisted of two lettuce cultivars (Verônica and Quatro Estações), two times of evaluation (at the time of harvest and after three days of conservation) and five levels of salinity of the nutrient solution with or without a further dilution of the tailing desalination of brackish water (1.1; 2.4; 3.6; 4.7 and 5.7 dS m-1). Quatro Estações cultivar showed lower weight loss during the conservation period and higher total value of chlorophyll and pH. The matter of vitamin C and soluble solids were influenced by the reuse of tailing from desalination in nutrient solution, presenting higher level in the highest salt content studied. The cultivated lettuce on coconut fiber irrigated with reuse of the tailing nutrient solution in desalination presented, in general, good appearance both at harvest and after three days of conservation.
