RESUMO O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a eficiência agroeconômica do consórcio de cenoura com caupi-hortaliça sob diferentes arranjos espaciais e densidades populacionais nas condições semiáridas do Nordeste brasileiro. O estudo foi realizado na Fazenda Experimental “Rafael Fernandes” da Universidade Federal Rural do Semi-Árido (UFERSA) no período de julho 2013 a fevereiro de 2014. O delineamento experimental adotado foi de blocos completos casualizados com quatro repetições, com os tratamentos arranjados em um esquema fatorial 3 x 4, sendo o primeiro fator constituído pelos arranjos espaciais (2:2; 3:3 e 4:4) e o segundo fator pelas densidades populacionais do caupi-hortaliça (100%, 80%, 60% e 40% da população recomendada no cultivo solteiro - PRCS). Todos os tratamentos foram fertilizados com flor-de-seda (Calotropis procera (Ait.) R.Br.), que é uma espécie espontânea do bioma Caatinga. Os índices de eficiência agronômica dos sistemas consorciados avaliados foram: índice de uso eficiente da terra, índice de eficiência produtiva e escore da variável canônica. Foram também avaliados os seguintes indicadores econômicos: renda bruta, renda líquida, taxa de retorno e índice de lucratividade. A eficiência agroeconômica do sistema consorciado de cenoura com caupi-hortaliça foi influenciada pelos arranjos espaciais, com o arranjo 2:2 sobressaindo-se dos demais. A maior eficiência agroeconômica do consórcio de cenoura com caupi-vegetal foi obtida na densidade populacional de 100% da PRCS quando o valor do índice de eficiência produtiva foi de 0,75. | ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the agro-economic efficiency of the intercropping of carrot with cowpea-vegetable under different spatial arrangements and population densities in the semi-arid conditions of the Brazilian Northeast. ABSTRACT Uncontrolled weed growth interferes with the growth eggplants and crop yields. To control weeds, the main weed species must be identified in crop growing areas and during weed control periods, as weed species might vary in relation to management practices. Therefore, this study aimed to identify the main weed species and determine the periods of weed interference in the eggplant cultivar Nápoli when grown under certain cultural practices, including plant staking and sprout thinning. The experiment was carried out in 2014 using a randomized complete block design, with 3 replications. The treatments consisted of 11 periods of (1) increasing weed control and (2) increasing coexistence of eggplant with weeds from the first day of transplanting (0-14, 0-28, 0-42, 0-56, 0-70, 0-84, 0-98, 0-112, 0-126, 0-140, and up do day 154). Eggplant staking and sprout thinning were performed 42 days after transplanting (DAT). Weed identification and crop yield assessments were performed to determine the Period Before Interference (PBI), Total Period of Interference Prevention (TPIP), and the Critical Period of Interference Prevention (CPIP). The major weeds found in the eggplant cultivar Nápoli were Eleusine indica, Portulaca oleracea, and Cyperus rotundus. Coexistence between the weed community and the eggplant throughout the entire crop production cycle reduced eggplant fruit yield by 78%. The PBI was 29 DAT and the TPIP was 48 DAT, resulting in 19 days of CPIP. | RESUMO As plantas daninhas, quando manejadas incorretamente, podem interferir no desenvolvimento e produtividade da berinjela. Para o controle destas plantas é fundamental identificar as principais espécies infestantes do local de cultivo e os períodos de controle, que podem variar de acordo com as práticas de manejo adotadas. Desta forma, o objetivo deste estudo foi identificar as principais plantas daninhas e determinar os períodos de interferência na cultura da berinjela cultiva ‘Nápoli’ sob manejo de tutoramento e desbrota. O experimento foi realizado no ano de 2014 no delineamento de blocos ao acaso, com três repetições. Os tratamentos consistiram de 11 períodos crescentes de controle e convivência com as plantas daninhas a partir do transplante: (0-14, 0-28, 0-42, 0-56, 0-70, 0-84, 0-98, 0-112, 0-126, 0-140 e 0-154 dias). As práticas de tutoramento e desbrota ocorreram aos 42 dias após o transplante (DAT). Realizou-se a identificação das plantas daninhas e avaliação da produtividade da cultura para determinação do período anterior à interferência (PAI), do período total de interferência (PTPI) e do período crítico de prevenção a interferência (PCPI). As principais plantas daninhas encontradas na cultura da berinjela ‘Nápoli’ foram Eleusine indica, Portulaca oleracea e Cyperus rotundus. O convívio entre comunidade infestante e cultura durante todo o ciclo da berinjela reduziu a produtividade de frutos em 78%. O PAI foi de 29 DAT e o PTPI de 48 DAT, resultando em 19 dias de PCPI.

RESUMO O presente estudo foi conduzido com o objetivo de analisar estrutura de covariância e estimativas de repetibilidade das variáveis relacionadas à produtividade da goiabeira como massa dos frutos (MF), número de frutos (NF) e produção de frutos (PROD) de três safras, em 95 genótipos de uma população segregante. E por meio dos critérios de AIC (Akaike’s Information Criterion) e SBC (Schwarz’s Bayesian Criterion) escolher a estrutura de covariância mais adequada das observações dentro de um mesmo indivíduo. Foi possível incorporar ao modelo estatístico, uma estrutura de covariância entre medidas repetidas, sendo as formas autorregressiva e simetria composta as mais adequadas. Os valores dos coeficientes de repetibilidade obtidos para PF (0,25), NF (0,14) e PROD (0,29) foram considerados baixos, indicando que para a população em estudo as três safras realizadas não foram suficientes para selecionar os melhores indivíduos com maior acurácia. Para as variáveis PF e PROD, a partir de cinco medições seria possível a obtenção de estimativas de acurácias em torno de 0,50. Enquanto que para a variável NF, observou-se que mais safras seriam necessárias. RESUMO A bananicultura destaca-se como uma atividade de grande importância econômica e social, sendo explorada na maioria dos países tropicais. O presente trabalho propôs avaliar o acúmulo de biomassa e os teores de nitrogênio (N), fósforo (P), potássio (K), cálcio (Ca) e magnésio (Mg) em mudas micropropagadas de bananeira cv. Prata Catarina, durante a fase de aclimatização sob diferentes tipos doses e de biofertilizantes. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos casualizados em arranjo fatorial 2 × 5 + (2), referentes a dois tipos de biofertilizantes líquidos (bovino de fermentação anaeróbia e aeróbia) e cinco doses de biofertilizantes (0,25; 0,50; 0,75; 1,00 e 1,25 L planta-1 semana-1), com dois tratamentos adicionais (controle e adubação mineral recomendada). Foram analisadas as seguintes variáveis: massa seca das folhas, das raízes e teores de elementos minerais (N, P, K, Ca e Mg) nas diferentes partes da planta (folha e raiz). O biofertilizante bovino com fermentação anaeróbia apresenta maior aporte nutricional em relação biofertilizante de fermentação aeróbio e ao controle, porém menor em relação à adubação mineral para as mudas durante os 90 dias de aclimatização. A dose de 1000 mL do biofertilizante com fermentação anaeróbia promove maior acúmulo de massa seca nas folhas e raízes da bananeira Prata Catarina. O biofertilizante com fermentação anaeróbia proporciona maiores teores de N, K e Ca nas folhas, enquanto, o biofertilizante com fermentação aeróbia promove maiores teores de P nas folhas e raízes. | ABSTRACT Banana farming is an activity of great economic and social importance, and is carried out in most tropical countries. ABSTRACT The cowpea [Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.], also known as cowpea, is of fundamental socioeconomic importance to the northeast of Brazil, and has become one of the main sources of protein in the diet of the rural population. However, in this region, it has become necessary to identify genotypes that are better adapted to drought. In addition, research is needed regarding the action of substances that promote tolerance to stress factors. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antioxidative response of cowpea cultivars under osmotic stress conditions using potassium nitrate as an attenuator. Five osmotic potentials were tested in the substrate (0.0, −0.2, −0.4, −0.6, and −0.8 MPa), and three seed treatments (pre-soaking in distilled water, pre-soaking in potassium nitrate, and without pre-soaking) were tested in three cowpea cultivars (BRS Itaim, BRS Aracê, and BRS Potengi). The design was randomized with 45 treatments and four replications. The data were submitted to analysis of variance (P < 0.05), and in cases of significance, regression analysis was conducted to quantitate the factors. Our results indicate that an increase in proline content in cowpea plants may be seen as indicative of the intensity of water stress on germination and the initial stages of growth of the plant. The BRS Itaim cultivar best tolerates drought conditions with the application of potassium nitrate, given the increased activity of antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase, catalase, and ascorbate peroxidase. | RESUMO O feijão-caupi [Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.], também conhecido como feijão macassar, representa fundamental importância socioeconômica para o Nordeste do Brasil, constituindo-se como uma das principais fontes proteicas na alimentação da população rural. Todavia, nessa região é necessário identificar genótipos mais adaptados ao déficit hídrico, bem como conhecer a ação de substâncias promotoras de tolerância a fatores de estresse. O objetivo desse trabalho foi avaliar a resposta antioxidativa de cultivares feijão-caupi sob condições de estresse osmótico, utilizando como atenuador o nitrato de potássio. Foram testados cinco potenciais osmóticos no substrato (0,0; -0,2; -0,4; -0,6 e -0,8 MPa) e três tratamentos de sementes (pré-embebição em água destilada; pré-embebição em nitrato de potássio e sem pré-embebição) em três cultivares (BRS Itaim, BRS Aracê e BRS Potengi). Foi adotado o delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com quatro repetições e sementes por repetição. Os dados obtidos foram submetidos à análise de variância (P<0,05) e nos casos de significância foi realizada a análise de regressão para fator de natureza quantitativa. Os resultados indicam que um aumento no teor de prolina em feijão-caupi pode ser visto como indicativo da intensidade do estresse hídrico na germinação e nos estágios iniciais de crescimento da planta. The cowpea Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp., also known as cowpea, is of fundamental socioeconomic importance to the northeast of Brazil, and has become one of the main sources of protein in the diet of the rural population. However, in this region, it has become necessary to identify genotypes that are better adapted to drought. In addition, research is needed regarding the action of substances that promote tolerance to stress factors. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antioxidative response of cowpea cultivars under osmotic stress conditions using potassium nitrate as an attenuator. Five osmotic potentials were tested in the substrate (0.0, −0.2, −0.4, −0.6, and −0.8 MPa), and three seed treatments (pre-soaking in distilled water, pre-soaking in potassium nitrate, and without pre-soaking) were tested in three cowpea cultivars (BRS Itaim, BRS Aracê, and BRS Potengi). The design was randomized with 45 treatments and four replications. The data were submitted to analysis of variance (P < 0.05), and in cases of significance, regression analysis was conducted to quantitate the factors. Our results indicate that an increase in proline content in cowpea plants may be seen as indicative of the intensity of water stress on germination and the initial stages of growth of the plant. The BRS Itaim cultivar best tolerates drought conditions with the application of potassium nitrate, given the increased activity of antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase, catalase, and ascorbate peroxidase.

Regardless of the exposure time, the timbers heat-treated at 100°C showed more efficiency, since this treatment unclogged the pores, reduced hygroscopicity, and promoted further darkening and uniformity of color, without changing the density and mechanical strength of the wood. | RESUMO A madeira, de modo geral, é um material com excelentes propriedades, mas ressalta-se que algumas características podem limitar o seu uso. Neste sentido, alguns métodos de tratamentos térmicos vêm surgindo como alternativa para melhorar algumas propriedades tecnológicas da madeira. Neste contexto, o objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar o efeito do tempo e da temperatura do tratamento hidrotérmico e do congelamento nas propriedades físicas e mecânicas da madeira de Eucalyptus grandis W.Hill ex Maiden. Foram utilizadas três árvores, selecionando-se apenas a madeira do cerne para obtenção dos corpos de prova de dimensões 30 x 8 x 3 cm (comprimento x largura x espessura). Os tratamentos foram realizados nas temperaturas de -20, 60 e 100 °C combinados a três tempos de exposição (5, 10 e 15 horas). O tratamento na temperatura de -20 °C foi realizado em um freezer doméstico, e os tratamentos a 60 e 100 °C em um Reator Parr, onde as madeiras ficaram submersas em água. Independente do tempo de exposição, os tratamentos realizados a 100 °C mostraram-se mais eficientes, pois desobstruíram os poros, reduziram a higroscopicidade e promoveram maior escurecimento e homogeneização da cor das madeiras, sem alterar a densidade e a resistência mecânica das mesmas.

RESUMO O uso da tecnologia de biofloco (BFT) pode contribuir para a produção de peixes em regiões com reduzida água. Portanto, compreender a dinâmica da qualidade da água é essencial para o sucesso do cultivo de peixes. O objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar a qualidade da água no cultivo de tilápia do Nilo em sistema sem troca de água, durante a fase de alevinagem, utilizando diferentes fontes de carbono e relações C:N. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o arranjo fatorial 2x3, contendo duas relações carbono (C) e nitrogênio (N) (10:1 e 20:1) e três fontes de carbono (açúcar, melaço e amido de mandioca). Ambas as relações C:N e fontes de carbono influenciaram as variáveis alcalinidade, sólidos sedimentáveis (SS), turbidez e sólidos suspensos totais (SST) demonstrando valores significativamente mais elevados na relação C:N 20:1 (P < 0,05). As melhores fontes de carbono para a formação de flocos microbianos foram observados na utilização do melaço e açúcar na relação C:N de 10:1 e 20:1. A estabilidade dos parâmetros de qualidade de água monitorados ocorreu entre a 6 e 7 semanas de cultivo. O desempenho de tilapia do Nilo em sistema BFT fertilizado com diferentes fontes de carbono orgânico não foi significativamente diferente (P < 0,05) entre os tratamentos. A escolha de melaço para a fertilização do sistema BFT também pode ajudar a reduzir o custo de produção em regiões onde há disponibilidade deste produto. | ABSTRACT The use of biofloc technology (BFT) can improve fish production in regions with low water availability. The beans were cooked without soaking (1:5 w/v) in a pressure cooker for 780 seconds. Statistical analysis was performed using Student’s t-test to determine the difference between means of raw and cooked beans. One-way ANOVA: post-hoc Tukey’s test was applied at 5% to compare the data of the cultivars. Significant difference (p 0.05) was noted between the moisture contents of samples, with values ranging from 10.69 to 11.37% in the raw beans and 63.32 to 75.43% in the cooked ones. Only BRS Marataoã showed a slight reduction (1.24%) in the energy value. The total polyphenol content in cooked beans decreased on discarding the broth. BRS Marataoã showed the highest levels of total polyphenols and flavonoids in raw beans, cooked beans, and broth. The raw beans of the cultivar BRS Itaim had greater content of condensed tannins and total anthocyanins. The raw beans, cooked beans, and broth showed statistically significant differences between their antioxidant activities, and the best results were found in the samples not subjected to thermal processing, particularly in BRS Marataoã. In conclusion, cooking influenced the concentration of bioactive compounds and antioxidant activities of the beans. Therefore, it is recommended that cooked cowpea beans should be consumed with the cooking broth for optimization of antioxidants. | RESUMO Este trabalho objetivou verificar o efeito da cocção na composição centesimal, no conteúdo de compostos bioativos e na atividade antioxidante em grãos de cultivares de feijão-caupi. Estes foram cozidos sem maceração (1:5 p/v) em panela de pressão por 780 segundos. Na análise estatística utilizou-se o teste t de Student para verificar diferença entre a média dos grãos crus e cozidos. Por meio do método de one-way ANOVA: post-hoc, aplicou-se o teste de médias de Tukey ao nível de 5% para as demais variáveis. Em relação à composição centesimal, houve diferença significativa (p<0,05) apenas para o teor de umidade, com valores de 10,69 a 11,37% nos grãos crus e 63,32 a 75,43% nos cozidos. Apenas a cultivar BRS Marataoã apresentou discreta redução (1,24%) no valor energético. Quanto aos polifenóis totais, observou-se uma diminuição do conteúdo nos grãos cozidos, com retenção no caldo. A cultivar BRS Marataoã destacou-se com os maiores teores de polifenóis totais e flavonóides totais nos grãos crus, cozidos e caldo. Observou-se, nos grãos crus da cultivar BRS Itaim os maiores teores de taninos condensados e antocianinas totais. Os grãos crus, cozidos e caldo apresentaram diferença estatisticamente significativa na atividade antioxidante, sendo os melhores resultados nas amostras sem tratamento térmico, com destaque para a BRS Marataoã. Concluiu-se que o cozimento influenciou a concentração dos compostos bioativos e a atividade antioxidante dos grãos, recomendando-se o consumo do feijão-caupi com o caldo de cocção para aproveitamento dos compostos antioxidantes.

RESUMO O uso de elicitores em plantas para o controle de doenças tem demonstrado ação no acúmulo de fitoalexinas. Dentre estes, produtos do metabolismo de fungos apresentam eficiência na ativação de mecanismos de resistência induzida das plantas. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito de filtrados dos fungos sapróbios Curvularia inaequalis, Pseudobitritis terrestris, Memnomiella echinata e Curvularia eragrostidis na indução de faseolina, gliceolina e deoxiantocianidinas. Para isso, discos de micélio dos fungos foram repicados em meio líquido BD (batata e dextrose) e mantidos em B.O.D. a 25 ºC, 12h luz/escuro. Após 20 dias foi realizada filtragem e utilizado os filtrados nos experimentos. A faseolina foi determinada em hipocótilos estiolados de feijão. Para avaliação da gliceolina, foram utilizados cotilédones de plântulas de soja. O acúmulo de deoxiantocianidinas foi avaliado em mesocótilos estiolados de sorgo. Os Resultados foram submetidos à análise de variância e comparados pelo teste de regressão (p<0,05). Os filtrados dos fungos sapróbios C. erogrostis, C. inaequalis, P. terrestris e M. echinata promoveram maior incremento no acúmulo de faseolina nas concentrações 9, 8, 9 e 7%, respecivamente. O acúmulo de gliceolina variou com as concentrações dos sapróbios C. erogrostis, C. inaequalis e P. terrestris, ajustando-se o comportamento ao modelo cúbico. O acúmulo de deoxiantocianidinas aumentou conforme a concentração, enquanto os filtrados de M. echinata e C. eragrostidis promoveram aumento de 2 e 3 vezes mais que a aplicação de água. A aplicação dos filtrados de P. terrestris, C. eragrostidis, C. inaequalis e M. echinata induziram o acúmulo de fitoalexinas em soja, feijão e sorgo. | ABSTRACT The use of elicitors in plants for disease control is demonstrated by the accumulation of phytoalexins. The deoxyanthocyanidin accumulation increased with concentration, while the filtrates of M. echinata and C. eragrostidis promoted 2 to 3 times more increases than the application of water. The filtrates of P. terrestris, C. eragrostidis, C. inaequalis and M. echinata induced accumulations of phytoalexins in soybean, beans and sorghum.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the agronomic performance and estimate the genetic divergence of 18 cotton genotypes grown in the main season (sowed in December, 2012) and off season (sowed in January, 2013), considering their agronomic characteristics and resistance to Ramularia leaf spot. A randomized block experimental design was used, with five replications. The characteristics evaluated were plant height, first branch height, position of first fruiting branch, height of first fruiting branch, length between nodes, number of nodes, average number of bolls per plant, average boll weight, area under the disease progress curve (AUDPC) related to the Ramularia leaf spot severity, weight of 100-seed from the plant middle third, fiber percentage, average production per plant, yield and cotton fiber quality. The results were subjected to individual and joint analysis of variance and the genetic divergence was estimated according to multivariate procedures (Mahalanobis' generalized distance and Tocher's optimization method). The dissimilarity matrices were summed to estimate the genetic divergence, considering both growing periods. Genetic variability was found among the genotypes evaluated, in both the main season and off season. The characteristic that most contributed to the genetic divergence in the main season was the production per plant and, in the off season, was the fiber percentage. According to the results of the present work, the crosses between the genotypes BRS-335 and FMT-707; FM-910 and FMT-707; and IMA-08-12427 and FMT-707 are recommended. | O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o comportamento agronômico e estimar a divergência genética entre 18 genótipos de algodeiro, com base em características agronômicas e de resistência à mancha de ramulária. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos ao acaso com cinco repetições, em duas épocas de plantio, sendo em safra (dezembro de 2012) e safrinha (janeiro de 2013). As características avaliadas foram: altura da planta, altura do primeiro ramo, posição do primeiro ramo frutífero, altura do primeiro ramo frutífero em centímetros, comprimento entre nós, número de nós, número médio de capulhos por planta, peso médio por capulho, área abaixo da curva de progresso da severidade da mancha de ramulária (AACPS), peso de cem sementes no terço médio, porcentagem de fibra, produção média por planta, produtividade e as caracteristicas tecnológicas da fibra do algodão.Foi realizada a análise de variância individual e conjunta das características avaliadas e estimada a divergência genética com base nos procedimentos multivariados de distância generalizada de Mahalanobis e o método de agrupamento de otimização de Tocher. Para estimar a divergência genética considerando as duas safras, as matrizes de dissimilaridade foram somadas. Houve variabilidade genética entre os genótipos testados, tanto em condições de safra como de safrinha. As características que mais contribuíram para a divergência genética foram a produção por planta na safra e a porcentagem de fibra na safrinha. Com os resultados deste trabalho sugere-se cruzamentos entre os genótipos BRS 335 e FMT 707, FM 910 e FMT 707, IMA 08-12427 e FMT 707.
