TOLERÂNCIA DA JITIRANA A DIFERENTES NÍVEIS DE SALINIDADE DURANTE A GERMINAÇÃO E DESENVOLVIMENTO DE PLÂNTULA

This assay was conducted at the Departamento Ciências Vegetais of Universidade Federal Rural do Semi-Árido, with the objective to evaluate the tolerance of the jitirana (aegyptia Merremia L.), in saline solution. The used experimental delineation was the inteiramento casualizado with four treatments and four repetitions. The treatments had evidenced of four levels of salinity: testemunha (0,614ds/m) and the three saline solutions the 10, 20 and 30ds/m. The seeds had been incubadas in the sand esterilizada in caixotes wooden with capacity of 100 sementes.O parameter germination percentage were used as identification character of resistance. Ahead of the displayed one one concludes that the jitirana is tolerant the salinity since the same dS/m came to present reduction in the germination only in the C.E=30.

Moringa oleifera Lam is a leguminous species well adapted to arid and semi arid conditions and is largely used as ornamental for parks and gardens in the animal feeding and human diet and as medicinal. Since research informations on this plant species are scarce, the current work aimed to evaluate the production of leaves, stems and roots dry matter in Moringa oleifera Lam seedlings hidroponicaly grown under physiological conditions or not. The treatments used were the following: (1) nutrient solution containing all required macronutrients (experimental control) or lacking (2) N; (3) P; (4) K; (5) Ca; (6) Mg and (7) S. The Moringa oleifera Lam showed different responses to the imposed treatments. Nutrient solution free of N, P and Mg decreased whole dry matter production (WDM) and increased root to shoot ratios (R/S), however both parameters were not affected in plants grown under absence of K, Ca and S in the nutrient solution.

The slag represent an alternative recommended to replace the traditional source of corrective or fertilizers. This study evaluated different base saturation levels, comparing basic slag to dolomitic limestone as soil acidity corrective agents and in the availability of calcium, magnesium and phosphorus. Thus, one experiment involving soil incubation was conducted in laboratory, during 60 days. The treatments consisted of two corrective agents: dolomitic limestone and basic slag, evaluated by the base saturation method, with eight correction levels (V%) (56, 58, 60, 62, 65, 67, 69 e 71 %) and two replicates. After the incubation period the soil samples was analyzed chemically. The application of the corrective agents promoted efficient neutralization of acidity in soil, especially when basic slag was used. The Ca + Mg level increased depending on the increasing amounts of correctives, reducing the K (Ca2+ + Mg2+)-0,5 ratio. The neutralization of acidity in soil reaction was fast when the slag was used. The soil available P did not increase with increasing levels of soil acidity correctives.

Solanum paludosum, vulgarly known as purple Jurubeba is a species of the found in the Brazilian Northeast and rich solanácea family in molecules of farmacológico interest. Among these molecules it is distinguished solasodina that it is an esteroidal alkali that if presents in nature in the glicosídica form and consists in substance cousin for the half-synthesis of adrenocorticais and glicocorticais, used hormones as contraceptive and anti-inflamatorios agents. In this work they show if the cultivated results of regeneration from explantes of leaves, fragments of hypocotyls and root in half MS increased of different regulators of growth. Most efficient that one had been gotten plants in ways of culture contends different combinations in growth regulators being the combination that contained the ácidoindlicoacetico (AIA 10-6) and benzilaminapurina (BAP 10-5M).

The objective of this work was of evaluating three textures of mixed organic compost in the lettuce seedlings formation, cv. Babá de Verão, in trays of 72, 128 and 200 cells. An experiment was carried out in a greenhouse of the Plant Sciences Department at Universidade Federal Rural do Semi-Árido (UFERSA). A completely randomized experimental design was used with the treatments in 3 x 3 factorial scheme with three replications. The treatments consisted of combination of three textures of mixed organic compost, obtained by passage in mesh sieves n°4 (6mm), n°8 (4mm) and n°12 (2mm), with three trays of 72, 128 and 200 cells. Evaluations for seedling height, root length, number of leaves per seedling, leaf area, shoot fresh and dry mass, root fresh and dry mass were determined. Higher mean values of root length and root fresh mass were obtained in mesh sieve n° 8 (4 mm) combined with tray of 72 cells. Higher mean value of root dry mass was obtained in mesh sieve n° 12 (2 mm) combined with tray of 72 cells. Higher mean values of seedling heigh, shoot fresh mass, leaf area and root dry mass were obtained with tray of 72 cells. Higher mean value of root dry mass was obtained in mesh sieve n° 8 (4 mm).

The xiquexique ((Pilocereus gounellei (A. Weber ex K. Schum.) Bly. ex Rowl)) is native cactus the caatinga, much utilization of the small farmers in the drought period in the caatinga, To evaluate the xiquexique consumption for goats in the drought period in the caatinga, they were selected to the 12 animals in the community of the Xiquexique, Curaçá, BA, in the period of august to november of the 2005. The experiment consisted the two treatments and four replications. The animals consumed, on the average, 351.13 kg the phytomass the xiquexique. The daily consumption the xiquexique for animal was of 6.63 kg/dia. The animals thatreceived supplement had the period, while the other animals lost.

O objetivo deste estudo foi determinar equações do tipo y = a + bx, onde y = área foliar e x = comprimento da folha (C) x largura da folha (L), que permitam a estimação da area foliar, a partir de C e L, em nove espécies adaptadas à região Semi-Árida brasileira. Cem folhas foram coletadas do terço mediano da copa de diversas árvores de espécies de folhas simples (Auxemma oncocalyx, Ao; Bauhinia forticata, Bf; Combretum leprosum, Cl) e de espécies com folhas compostas: Azadirachta indica (Ai), Caesalpinia bracteosa (Cb), Leucaena leucocephala (Ll), Mimosa caesalpiniifolia (Mc), Schinus terebenthifolius (St), and Tamarindus indica (Ti). Nas espécies com folhas compostas, C, L e A foram medidos em folhas intactas (sem folíolos destacados) e nos folíolos destacados. O coeficiente linear foi significativo em Ao e Bf, e não significativo, com folhas intactas em Ai, Cb, St, e Ti. Todos os coeficientes angulares foram diferentes de zero, mas somente em Mc esses coeficientes não diferiram entre si, quando as equações foram ajustadas a partir de folhas intactas e a partir de folíolos destacados. O coeficiente de determinação nas espécies de folhas simples variou de 0,85 to 0,97, enquanto em folhas compostas a variação correspondente foi de 0,28 a 0,93, indicando que a variação na área foliar explicada pela regressão é maior em espécies de folhas simples. Na maioria das espécies de folhas compostas o coeficiente de determinação foi maior quando a estimação foi feita a partir de folhas intactas, exceto em ST.

The in vitro propagation can provide the production of uniform plants, with high quality and free of diseases, and allow fast and genetically reliable multiplication of new cultivars and hybrids. In this context, the present work had the aim at developing a protocol for the in vitro propagation of Ananas lucidus Miller. Two experiments have been carried through, the first on the effect of BAP on nodal multiplication, an the second on plantlet acclimatization. For the multiplication it was used a completely randomized factorial design with 10 repetitions, and 2x5 factors, composed by two consistences, solid and liquid, and five BAP dosages (0,0; 1,0; 2,0; 3,0; 4,0) mg L-1. For the acclimatization experiment it was used a randomized blocks design with 5 treatments, 5 repetitions and 5 plants in each experimental unit, it being tested different substrata (coconut fiber, compost of plant residues, vermiculite, coconut fiber + compost, and vermiculite + compost). The number of sprouts (NB) produced in the liquid medium in the 2,0 mg. L-1 BAP dosage treatment was greater than in the 0,0 mg L-1 dosage, at a 5% probability level, and similar to the 1,0; 3,0 e 4,0 mg.L-1 dosages. It was observed that in the liquid media treatments there was a higher proliferation of sprouts than in the semi-solid media (11,3 and 9,0 respectively). The acclimatization survival index was of 96% for all treatments.

This work aimed to evaluate the seeds germination and vigor of cv Golden papaya fruits after seeds and fruits storage. The papaya fruits were picked from two maturation stage, from Caliman Farm, in Linhares - ES. The fruits were conserved in 25ºC for 10 days and the seeds germination was evaluated at the 0, 2, 6 e 10 days. After extraction and washing of the seeds, the drying was accomplished using an oven-dried with air circulation at 30ºC until they reached 8 to 10% humidity. A part of the seeds was analyzed, immediately, as germination and vigor percentage (first count of germination test and percentage of strong seedling in first count of germination). Another part was stored in packings of the type pouch of flexible aluminum by 30 and 120 days in 15ºC. The experimental design used was completely randomized in 4x3 factorial scheme with four replications. The treatments consisted of four fruits storage period (0, 2, 6 e 10 days), with three seeds storage period (0, 30 and 120 days). The vigour was better availed by first count of germination test than by percentage of strong seedling. There were increase in the seed germination and vigor with the increase seed and fruits storage period. The fruit storage for 10 days and seeds storage for 120 days allowed hither seeds germination.

The objective of evaluating the effect of salinity water irrigation of the for vegetative phase of castor culture, it was developed a greenhouse experiment at Environmental SciencesDepartment of UFERSA. The experimental delineating used was entirely randomized with six treatments and three replications. The soil utilized was eutrofic red-yellow latossol and the treatments were six waters with different salinity levels (0,5; 1,0; 1,5; 2,0; 2,5; 3,0 dS·m-1). The cropping was carried out with the BRS 149-Nordestina variety. The variables evaluated were: chemical-physical characteristics of the soil (pH, electrical conductivity, Ca, Mg e Na), and in the plant, the plant height, stalk diameter, fresh and dry matter. It was observed that the soil under went the influence of the waters utilized: the pH, Electrical Conductivity and changeable Na with the water salinity. With the increase of the salinity, the plant development decreased.
