The production of shifts sweet passion fruit tree (Passiflora alata Curtis) is hampered by the presence of soils that, sometimes, doesn¿t tend to nutritional demand of the plant, needing, then, fertilization. The application of Arbuscular Mycchorizic Fungus (AMF) is a way to available this nutrients in the soil. It can take to a reduction of time of the shifts in vegetation house anticipating the transplantation for the field, increasing the growth, developing the biomass of the plant and the production of fruits of quality. The aim of this work was to analyze the growth of the shifts of sweet passion fruit according to the levels of concentration of this innoculus. The experiment was conducted in casualty entirely lineation (CEL) with factorial arrangement of 2 x 4, as: 2 innoculation treatments (Gigaspora albida Schenck & Smith and Scutellospora heterograma Nicolson & Gerdemann) x 4 levels of innoculation (without innoculus = WN/I 100 spores = N1, 200 spores = N2 and 300 spores = N3) whit 5 repetitions. In each 30 days after the innoculation were measured the height, stem diameter and number of leaves. After harvest (90 days) also were evaluated: leaf area, fresh and dry biomass of the air and radicular part, colonization of roots and density of spores of Arbuscular Mycchorizic Fungus. Plants of sweet passion fruit showed high Mycchorizic dependence when innoculated with Gigaspora albida, this fungus proportioned in the plants of sweet passion fruit better answers in relation to the evaluated parameters.

Knowledge of the speed of infiltration of water into the soil is of fundamental importance to define the methods of soil conservation, planning and design of irrigation systems and drainage. In order to study the speed of infiltration of water into a OxiLatossoil, before the system management tillage applying different empirical models, this work was conducted Centro de Ciências Agrárias, at the Federal University of Alagoas (CECA - UFAL), in order to evaluate the behavior of the equations of Kostiakov, Kostiakov-Lewis and Horton which Were used to estimate the Water infiltration rate in studied soil by using simple the soil under study, using a simple ring to evaluate the infiltration of water in the field. It was then that the system on the equation that more fit the model of the simple ring infiltrometer was to Kostiakov followed the model of Horton.

In food analysis, it is of utmost importance the determination of a specific component of the food as it is the case of the determination of the centesimal composition. Are procedures carried through with the purpose to supply information on the chemical composition, physicist-chemistry and, or, physics of a food. It can have different purposes, as: nutritional evaluation of a product; quality control of the food; development of new products and the monitoration of the legislation. In such a way, this work was carried through with intention to -chemical evaluate physicist the quality of pulps congealed with regard to the effective norms of the product. It was verified that, in a generalized manner, the pulps had taken care of the Brazilian legislation, excepting the values of pH and soluble solids (ºBrix) of the cashew pulp.

The objective of this work was to characterize plants and fruits of native muricy (Byrsonima verbascifolia Rich. former. Juss), a tropical underutilized and endangered fruit tree in a coastal area of Northeast Brazil. There were evaluated the main biometric parameters of 20 plants and 200 fruits collected from a natural occurring area in Alagoas. The fresh fruits weight 1,21 g in average, the longitudinal and transversal diameter of the fruits were, respectively, 8,5 mm and 7,4 mm with an average income of 63% of pulp. The fresh mass of the fruit was proportional to the amount of pulp (r = 0,605; P < 0,05), indicating an interesting potential to select elite trees with fruit quality for futures works on genetic improvement.

The guajava is principally cultivated in tropical and sub-tropical regions. The Brazil is one of the principal producers worldwide besides with India, Paquistan, Mexico and Venezuela. The fruit can be used in the industrialization generating many subproducts. The objective of this paper was to evaluate the efficiency of resistance inducers alone and associated with hydrothermal treatment in the control of anthracnose of guajava. The fruits that were treated with Agro-Mos® presented minor severity in comparison to the others treatments (Crop-Set, Methyl Jasmonate and Chitosan). The Agro-Mos® was selected to be used associated with the hydrothermal treatment. The temperatures treatments, 47ºC, in any time of exposure and 50ºC in the time exposure of 3 and 6 minutes differs significantly to the others, independently of the association with the inductor.

The moringa oleifera Lam. tree, a native plant species from tropical Africa, although it has been in introduced in Brazil as an ornamental tree, it can be used for industrial and medicine purposes. The work was to evaluate the physiological quality of the jug with different reservoirs and environmental conditions for a period of six months. The study was conducted in the laboratory of plant physiology in UFERSA, where the seeds were obtained, which were stored after the harvest in three different containers: plastic bag, paper bag and glass which were stored at room temperature and cold for a period of three and six months. After 12 days of sowing, evaluations were made of the speed of germination index (IVG), height and fresh and dry matter of seedlings. The experimental design was entirely randomized in a factorial 3 x 2 x 2, and studied three containers (plastic bag, paper bag and glass), two environments (temperature and cold) and two storage periods (3 and 6 months ) with four replications. The results showed that the seeds are orthodox behavior, remaining viable for six months when stored in cold and room temperature, regardless of packaging, if they are wrapped in airtight packaging.

Objective of this study quality of lettuce cultivars under saline stress, in an experiment carried out in a greenhouse. The experiment was carried out in a completely randomized design, in scheme factorial 5 x 5, with three repetitions. The treatments were five levels of salinity of irrigation water (0.5; 1.5; 2.5; 3.5 and 4.5 dS m-1) and five lettuce cultivars (Mônica SF31, Grandes Lagos 659, Veneranda, Folha Roxa Quatro Estações e Stella). The quality characteristics evaluated in the lettuce leaves were: pH, total soluble solids (TSS), titrable total acidity (TTA) and vitamin C. The analysis of the results allowed concluding that the interaction between the factors salinity and cultivars was significant. The parameters of quality were significantly affected by salinity, however, the intensity of this effect varied with the cultivar used.

The forage cactus is cultivated of extensive form as a producing species of fruits and fodder plant in many countries. The extensive culture if bases on the vegetative propagation, that is preferred, had its easiness. The propagation for seeds can come to be a useful tool for ends of genetic improvement, then, in this work forage cactus (Opuntia ficus-indica L.) seeds were submitted to different fermentation periods (0; 24; 48; 72 and 96 hours) and were dried or not, before sowing. It was evaluated the physiological quality of the seeds through the determination of the moisture content, emergence percentage and speed of seedling emergency. It was used an entirely randomized experimental design 5x2 (period of fermentation and drying). The practical one of the fermentation is efficient in the elimination of the sarcotesta in palm seeds, occurring bigger vigor in the seeds without drying and submitted the 55 hours of fermentation, as well as, the drying of the seeds, after the first periods of fermentation promotes reduction of the physiological quality, with reflected right-handers in the vigor.

With the objective of increasing the percentile of rooted cuttings and the quality of the newly formed root system through the treatment of cuttings with AIB and sucrose, the present study took place. The experiment was conducted in an intermittent mist chamber located in the experimental orchard at UFLA, in Lavras, MG. The herbaceous cuttings of cv. Paluma were collected in the orchard of UFLA in March of 1999. The prepared cuttings with 2 nodes and 1 pair of leaves reduced to half were treated with AIB in immersion for 24 hours at concentrations of 0, 100, 200 and 300 mg.L-1, 2% sucrose being added or not. After the treatment the cuttings were planted in polyethylene sacks with sand as a substrate. The layout used was it entirely casual with 4 repetitions and 15 cuttings per plot. From the evaluations it was concluded that: a) the concentration of 300 mg.L-1 of AIB provided the best result for the percentage of rooted cuttings as well as for the number and average weight of the dry root matter. b) The presence sucrose didn't present a significant effect on the characteristics analyzed. c) The simple permanence of the leaves on the cuttings didn't influence their rooting. d) In those cuttings treated with 300 mg.L-1 of AIB, it was not necessary for the leaves to persist for 60 days.
