This work aimed to evaluate the influence of light and temperature on germination of Hyptis suaveolens seeds. The seeds were harvested at Mossoró/RN city and the experiment developed in at the Laboratory of Seed Analysis of the Department of Agriculture of the Federal University of Lavras at Lavras/MG. The treatments was consisted of four temperatures (20ºC, 25ºC, 30ºC and 20-30ºC) and two light conditions (light and darkness). The treatments consisted of 200 seeds, with four repetitions of 50 seeds each, sown on a two Germitest towel paper, displayed inside gerbox, and maintained for 30 days in germination chamber. A completely randomized constituted design with 2x4 factorial design (two light expositions x four temperatures) was used with 4 replicates of 50 seeds. The Scott-Knot¿s Test at 5% of probability was used to compare the obtained averages. There was significant difference in the interaction temperature x shines, in the two variables. It can be concluded that the largest germination of seeds happened in the light presence and in high temperatures. And that the temperatures alternated of 20-30ºC, 30ºC and 25ºC are favorable for germination of seeds of Hyptis suaveolens.

It was carried out, in the nursery area located at Campus of Federal University of Lavras (UFLA) Minas Gerais, an experiment aiming to evaluate different doses of simple super phosphate and two substrates in plant production of loquat tree. It was tested four doses of simple super phosphate (0; 2.5; 5; 10 kg m-3 of substrate) and two substrates: A (organic compost + sand + soil in 1:1:3 volume proportion) and B ( Plantmax + sand + soil 1:1:3 volume proportion) A randomized block design was used with a 4 x 2 factorial scheme, with four replications and four plants per plot. The following characteristics were evaluated: high of plants (cm); length of root (cm); number of leaves/plant, dry matter of above ground part, roots and total (g/plant). The results showed that for seedlings of loquat tree, it is recommended to mix to substrate the super phosphate fertilizer in doses until 6 kg m-3. Between the substrates, the one the showed more viable was the substrate A (organic compost + sand + soil in 1:1:3 volume proportions).

In the North of Minas Gerais the equineculture is an important activity because it corroborates the success in the breeding of beef cattle. The equine verminosis control in this region has not been applied considering the anthelmintic resistances of nematodes and this resistance has been observed in some equine herds in Brazil. The present study has the objective to evaluate the effectiveness of pyrantel pamoate and ivermectin association in mare verminosis in the North of Minas Gerais, during the peripatum. After fourteen days of the first faecal egg count (FEC) and treatment of the animals with these respective bases, the FEC reduction test indicated 98.1% effectiveness and the coprocultures were negative. After the worm identification from the control group, was observed 30% of filariod worms of Strongyloides spp., 30% of the genus Haemonchus, 20% were worms of Cyathosminae, 10% of the genus Trichostrongylgys and 10% of the genus Oesophagodontus. The results observed suggest that the use of pyrantel pamoate associated with ivermectin was safe during the peripartum and efficient in the FEC reduction of naturally infected mares raised in pastures of the North of Minas Gerais.

This work had as objective to evaluate the growth of three strains of tilapia (Nilotica, Red koina and Chitralada) in semi-intensive culture ponds, in order to define the most adequate strain to commercial scale. Twelve 50 m2 ponds were used in a randomized entirely experimental design with three treatments and four replicates. The culture run 112 days and the ponds were submitted to a preparation that consisted of liming (100 g/m2 of hydrated lime) and chemical fertilization (3 g/m2 of simple superphosphate and 5g/m2 of ammonium sulfate). After verifying good conditions for culture, the ponds were stocked with 75 fingerlings (56.7 + 7.0 g) corresponding to a density of 1.5 fishes/m2. Fishes were fed with 32% crude protein extruded formulated diet in the first 60 days and another with 28% was used for the last 52 culture days, twice a day, at 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Feeding rate varied from 4% to 2% of live weight from the beginning to the end of culture. Data analysis demonstrated that there were significant differences among treatments (P<0.05) with Chitralada strain showing the best performance as survival (94.33%), specific growth rate (2.42%/day) and feed conversion ratio (1.14). Thus it was observed that is possible to obtain productivities over 6 ton/ha/cycle using Chitralada strain, being recommended for semi-intensive culture in ponds.

This work was developed with the objective of evaluating the development of the rocket fertilized with different organic fertilizers and irrigated with water of different salinity levels. The design was used randomized entirely in a factorial scheme 5 x 4, resulting in 20 treatments with 3 repetitions, being the experimental unit acted by a plant/vase. The first factor was composed by 5 levels of salinity of the irrigation water and the second by 4 different compositions of the substrates (S1 - Soil, S2 - Soil + Manure bovine (3: 1), S3 - Soil + Manure ovino/caprino (3: 1) and S4 - Soil + earthworm Humus (3: 1)). They were appraised the number of leaves, leaf area and matter dries of the aerial part. The number of leaves, leaf area and matter dries of the aerial part were reduced with increment of the salinity of the irrigation water. The sources of organic fertilizer studied influenced significantly in the answer of the rúcula the salinity, being an alternative for the cultivation of this vegetable under saline condition. The bovine manure presented the best acting in the development of the plants.

Nematodes are abundant metazoans in all ecosystems with some species surviving in extreme conditions. The sand dunes are dynamic systems and are always in a state of successional change in terms of succession and only recently has the distribution and succession of soil animals in coastal dunes been given wider attention. This research focused on to describe the trophic structure of nematode community associated with two stages of a vegetation succession in a coastal moving sand dunes ecosystem in the north shore of the Rio Grande do Norte State. Five sites were classified in two stages of an ecological succession defined as "beach" and "deflation hollows among dunes" where samples of soil, roots and shoots were collected. Nematodes were extracted from the soil by centrifugal flotation procedure and from the roots by this method associated to blender trituration and classified in families and trophic groups according to feeding habits. The structure of nematode fauna was described by maturity index, plant parasite index and modified maturity index and fungal feeders/bacterial feeders and omnivores+predators/bacterial feeders+fungal feeders+plant parasites rates. The ecosystem was characterized by low diversity of families which composed trophic groups, low values of maturity indexes and omnivores+predators/bacterial feeders+fungal feeders+plant parasites ratio and low abundance of dorylaimids. These datas reflected high level of disturbance which this habitat faces.

To have high yields it is necessary that seed of good quality be sowing and, to produce them, mother plants should receive appropriate treatment, like fertilization. Aiming evaluate how copper and zinc fertilization, in three types of soil, and its influence in physiological quality of sorghum seeds, in an experiment in randomized blocks with tree replicates. The treatments were a combination of five levels of Cu (0,0; 0,26; 0,90; 1,54; 1,80 mg kg-1 of soil) and five levels of Zn (0,0; 0,32; 1,10; 1,88; 2,20 mg kg-1 of soil), resulting in nine treatments in experimental matrix Central Box. Seeds produced were analyzed of hundred seed weight, germination and vigor (germination first count, IVG, emergence, emergence first count, IVE and seedlings dry matter). The levels of copper and zinc increased hundred seed weight and vigor tests. Plants cultivated in Haplustalf produced seed with the best quality.
