A model for determination of the efficient combination of water quantity and quality (salinity) in irrigation is presented. The efficient combination is evaluated with respect to a predetermined threshold salt concentration in the soil solution. A leaching model, designed for tracing salt distribution in the soil profile, serves as the basis for the analysis. The optimal quantity‐quality combinations are derived with the aid of a linear programming model. An illustrative application of the model concludes the presentation.

This experiment was aimed to detect adulteration and assess the quality of raw milk which were collected from various local markets in Bangladesh. The samples of the raw milk were collected from Narikali Bazar, Sofir Mia Bazar and Sokal Bazar of Jamalpur district in Bangladesh. Parameters were used to detect adulteration such as presence of Formalin, Starch, Cane Sugar, and coloring agent, and to screen the qualities of the samples on the basis of physical tests (color, flavor, taste, texture and specific gravity), chemical tests [acidity, fat, ash, lactose, protein, TS and SNF]-and microbiological tests. From the physical test, it was found that all the samples were yellowish white in color, normal in taste and flavor and free flowing fluid in case of texture. All of the raw milk samples did not fulfill the legal standard of milk composition. However, raw milk samples of Sokal Bazar were higher in fat, protein, lactose, SNF and TS contents than the other two samples. Microbiological parameters also remained high in all raw milk samples than the standard. It was observed that no adulteration was found in any of the collected raw milk samples. This study revealed that hygiene condition did not properly maintain during milking and transportation of the raw milk supplied in the local markets.

Abstract: Protein deficiency due to shortages of high-quality food protein is an urgent nutritional concern in many developing countries, and is part of a world food problem. Attempts to increase the production of edible food protein has resulted in development of new protein sources from oilseed meals, fishprotein concentrates, improved animal husbandry practices, new cereal varieties, leaf protein, microorganisms, and amino acid supplements. Improving the distribution and marketing of conventional protein foods has also been emphasized. Food habits and economic strategies are important considerations when new protein foods are introduced. Standardized laboratory analyses are necessary in evaluation of protein quality; biochemical techniques and methodologies are described. Toxicity, safety, processing and storage factors are presented in relation to protein quality and nutritional value of new protein products. The responsibility of scientists to deal with the challenge of protein malnutrition is discussed.

An evaluation was carried out to study the effect pre sowing seed treatment and foliar spay with chicory leaf extract on resultant seed quality characters of sesame cv TMV 3. The bulk seeds were graded for uniformity using appropriate round perforated metal sieves of sizes of 5/64" size sieve and were imposed various concentration of chicory leaf extract presowing treatment coupled with foliar spray at different concentration under drought condition. After harvest the resultant seeds were evaluated for its seed qualities. The results revealed that the that the Chicory @ 20 % Pre sowing seed treatment + Chicory foliar spray @ 30 %  during pod filling stage  significantly increased the resultant seed quality characters of the sesame, when compared to other concentration and control.
