Effect of Ensimax and sodium formate as preservatives on lucerne silage quality as well as on physiological traits and performance of cows

An experiment on 24 lactating cows fed diet containing a lucerne meal (C), sodium formate preserved lucerne silage (SF-LS) or Ensimax preserved lucerne (E-LS) was carried out. Higher dry matter, protein and fibre digestibility coefficients in cows given E-LS than in those given SF-LS were estimated. The higher milk yield and milk fat but not protein content in cows fed the E-LS diet than in those fed the SF-LS and C diet was stated
