Supplementary fat in the diet of broilers and laying hens

Studies of feeding fat to hens have not been very intensive in Estonia. When the rapeseed oil production was initiated in Estonia, the effect of feeding hens with this local product was investigated. The results of the tests indicated that adding 1.45 rapeseed oil to the diet of brood hens increases the egg production of hens and has a positive influence on their hatchability. Supplementation of rapeseed oil did not influence the taste or smell of eggs
