The expression of the rat alfa2-macroglobulin (alfa2MG) gene was investigated on the model of fetal liver of dams exposed to inflammation on day 19 of pregnancy. The elevation of the alfa2-macroglobulin gene transcriptional activity was found to be acute phase-dependent. Transcriptional regulation and the binding interactions of soluble fetal nucleoproteins and the response element (RE) of alfa2-macroglobulin gene relied on the induction of several preexisting, as well as de novo trans-acting proteins. Preexisting fetal nucleoprotein of 53 kD was identified as a protein of the same molecular mass and epitopes as transcription factor p53.
