The nutritive values of the naked oat variety STH2 96 and the hulled oat variety Bielik were assessed and compared to the average nutritive values of wheat, barley, rye and maize. All the tested cereals were harvested in 1998. The concentration of N compounds in naked oat was about 39 % superior to that of the hulled oat and 8 % superior to that of wheat. The naked oat contains also more energy and essential amino acids than other cereals. Nevertheless, lyzine remains a limiting amino acid and must be completed. The naked oat is a suitable feed for all categories of animals, especially offsprings.
