In this study, the effects of six nitrogen (0, 4, 12, 16, 20 kg N/da) and four phosphorus doses (0, 4, 8, 12 kg P2O5/da) on some yield and quality characters of Tokak 157/37 barley cultivar were investigated in 1996-97 and 1997-98 vegetation periods, in Isparta ecological conditions. According to the results obtained, the effects of nitrogen fertilizers were significant on all investigated characters. With increased nitrogen doses, grain yield increased except for 20 kg N/da application. Phosphorus rates had no effect on the grain number ear**-1 and protein content, but it increased plant height, ear lenght, and grain yield. The results showed that 8 kg P2O5/da and 12 kg N/da doses were favorable applications for high grain yield in Isparta region
