Optimum Concentration of Glycerine, Tween 20, and Green Food Color for Dry Processing of Korean Native Conifer Leaves
2005
Sohn, K.H. (Yonam College of Agriculture, Cheonan, Republic of Korea)
Branches (20 cm) of 10 kinds of Korean native conifers, Abies holophylla (AH), Abies koreana (AK), Juniperus chinensis (JC), Juniperus chinensis var. sar (JCS), Juniperus rigida (JR), Pinus koraiensis (PK), Pinus parviflora (PP), Pinus thunbergii (PT), Taxus cuspidata (TC), and Thuja orientalis (TO), were absorbed with 30, 40, 50, or 60% glycerine solution to examine its pliability as dried materials for floral design. All concentrations of glycerine solution were absorbed within 10 days by all plants. The best concentration of glycerine solution was 50% for most plants because it gives good pliability economically. To promote rapid absorption of glycerine by leaves, four levels of Tween 20 with 0, 0.1, 1, or 5 mLㆍL-¹ were added to 50% glycerine solution.
