[Production and processing of rape seeds in Belarus: the analysis and prospects of development]

Rape - the basic olive culture of Belarus. For last 10 years its areas under crops have grown more than in 3 times, and total gathering in 2008 have made 630 thousand t. Essential achievement of agrarian branch is growth of seed productivity of the given culture about 12,2 c/ha in 2007 to 21,7 c/ha in 2008. High productivity is caused both favorable weather factors, and perfection of technology of cultivation (processing by herbicides and stickers). In 2007/2008 in Ukraine rape productivity has averaged 13,7 c/ha, in Germany - about 30 c/ha. In 2009 areas under winter rape in our country will reach 400 thousand in hectares that will allow to receive to 800 thousand t of seeds. According to calculations, profitability of rape cultivation at operating procurement prices (700 thousand rbl/t) and productivity of 20 c/ha makes 54%. Hence, in 2008 it is possible to recognize cultivation of the given culture highly remunerative. In 2007 the enterprises of the system of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus by production and realization of rape seeds had losses at a rate of 2,7 billion rbl
