[Production and processing of rape seeds in Belarus: the analysis and prospects of development]

Rape - the basic olive culture of Belarus. For last 10 years its areas under crops have grown more than in 3 times, and total gathering in 2008 have made 630 thousand t. Essential achievement of agrarian branch is growth of seed productivity of the given culture about 12,2 c/ha in 2007 to 21,7 c/ha in 2008. High productivity is caused both favorable weather factors, and perfection of technology of cultivation (processing by herbicides and stickers). In 2007/2008 in Ukraine rape productivity has averaged 13,7 c/ha, in Germany - about 30 c/ha. In 2009 areas under winter rape in our country will reach 400 thousand in hectares that will allow to receive to 800 thousand t of seeds. According to calculations, profitability of rape cultivation at operating procurement prices (700 thousand rbl/t) and productivity of 20 c/ha makes 54%. Hence, in 2008 it is possible to recognize cultivation of the given culture highly remunerative.
