The article presents the results of isolation of protein inhibitor of trypsin (ScTI) from Solidago Canadensis rootstock by ammonium sulphate precipitation, ion-exchange chromatography and dual gel-chromatography. SDS-PAGE of ScTI revealed that it is molecular weight is being 17,5 kDa. By MALDY mass spectrometry Mr of inhibitor yielded a single peak with a Mr of 15,9 kDa. ScTI inhibited both trypsin and chymotrypsin in the stoichiometric ratio of 1:1, but did not inhibit subtilisin and thrombin. Inhibitory activity of ScTI remained unchanged over a wide range of PH, but lost at temperature above 50 Celsius degree and in the presence of beta-mercaptoethanol.
