Определены свойства и характерные черты, присущие данной категории, предлагается уточнение и интерпретация понятия инновации в овощеводстве защищенного грунта. Инновации являются главной движущей силой научно-технического прогресса. Развитие овощеводства невозможно без активного внедрения разработок научно-технического прогресса и передового опыта. Основными критериями инноваций должны быть: новизна, коммерциализация, рыночный ориентир, востребованность рынком, стремление на использование достижений научно-технического прогресса и передового опыта, статус интеллектуальной собственности, производственная применимость, социальная направленность, положительный эффект.
