Energy expenditure and dietary change
1981
Traub, Larry G. | Stucker, Thomas A.
Abstract: Aggregate expenditures for major energy forms (petroleum, coal, electricity, and natural gas) were estimated to be less under a diet shifted in the direction recommended by the Dietary Guidelines. The area of greatest savings under a diet altered to conform with the Dietary Guidelines would be in the area of electrical generation, and the least energy savings would occur in refined petroleum use. Input-output analysis was used to provide estimates of energy costs for both diets.
