A 1959 US Army research report compares the digestibility and metabolizable energy of macro-nutrients of 42 different gamma-irradiated and non-irradiated foods fed to 16 human volunteers. No difference in gross energy, metabolizable energy, or macronutrient content was found between the irradiated and non-irradiated foods.
