Chemical composition of the essential oil of Hyptis spicigera Lam. from Burkina Faso

Thirty-four compounds have been characterized by GC/MS and relative retention times in three Hyptis spicigera oil samples produced from plant material growing in Burkina Faso. The oils were characterized by a high content in beta-caryophyllene (57-66%). alpha-Pinene (2-5%) and sabinene (4-5%) were the major monoterpenes. Methyl palmitate (1-1.5%) was identified in all samples.
