This paper aims at summarizing present knowledge regarding factors of importance for sensitization to food and development of food allergy. We have chosen to lay emphasis on the influence of maternal food intake during pregnancy and/or lactation on the development of symptoms and signs of allergy during childhood. Data from some not yet published studies are included.
