Estimating the ratios of domestic and imported agricultural products used in home meals, home meal replacement and eating out in Japan

The purpose of this study is to estimate the composition of domestic and imported agricultural products used in home meals, home meal replacement and eating out in Japan, using Input-Output analysis. The results show that although the ratios of domestic agricultural products used in all types of meals had decreased from 1990 to 2005, the ratios in home meal replacement and eating out had increased from 2005 to 2011. These findings are partly due to the rise of the domestic ratio of livestock products in each corresponding type of meals.
