Английский. Osmotic pressures of 3.0, 5.0 and 7.0 atm had been applied to tomato plant by nutritive solutions of iso-osmotic concentrations of NaCl or PEG-4000. By action of the osmotic effect a remarkable increase is produced in the absorption of cations specially of potassium as well as a remarkable decrease in the fresh weight, which the saline treatments is counteracted by the action of the specific effect. The visual symptoms of toxicity of PTG-4000 in the tomato plants are described

Sono state studiate le pressioni osmotiche di 3.0, 5.0 e 7.0 atm sulle piante di pomodoro in soluzioni nutritive di concentrazioni isoosmotiche di NaCl o PEG-4000. Per l'effetto osmotico si verifica una notevole crescenza nell'assorbimento dei cationi soprattutto nel potassio, ma nel peso fresco si produce una notevole diminuzione, che nel trattamento salino e arrestata per l'azione dell'effetto specifico.
