英语. Osmotic pressures of 3.0, 5.0 and 7.0 atm had been applied to tomato plant by nutritive solutions of iso-osmotic concentrations of NaCl or PEG-4000. By action of the osmotic effect a remarkable increase is produced in the absorption of cations specially of potassium as well as a remarkable decrease in the fresh weight, which the saline treatments is counteracted by the action of the specific effect. Per l'effetto osmotico si verifica una notevole crescenza nell'assorbimento dei cationi soprattutto nel potassio, ma nel peso fresco si produce una notevole diminuzione, che nel trattamento salino e arrestata per l'azione dell'effetto specifico.
