Three species of the genus Leptacinus Er. described by Kraatz in 1859 (Coeloptera: Staphylinidae) [Laptacinus trigonocephalus, Phacophallus tricolor, P. flavipennis]

The original material of Leptacinus trigonocephalus Kraatz, 1859, L. tricolor Kraatz, 1859, and L. flavipennis Kraatz, 1859, was studied. L. trigonocephalus is assigned to the genus Leptacinus Er., the remaining two are re-elevated to species rank and assigned to the genus Phacophallus Coiff. All three are redescribed and figured. Original material of Phacophallus rubricollis (Reitter, 1899) and Phacophallus rubricollis (Casey, 1906) was studied, and both names were found to be junior synonyms of Phacophallus tricolor (Kraatz, 1859). Lectotypes are designated for Leptacinus trigonocephalus Kraatz, Phacophallus tricolor (Kraatz), P. rubricollis (Reitter), P. rubricollis (Casey), and P. flavipennis (Kraatz).
