The effect of nitrogen fertilizer on sex expression and yield of summer squash (Cucurbita pepo L.) (in Iraq)

The effect of nitrogen fertilizer on sex expression and yield of summer squash was studied under field condition during spring and fall season. The most effective rate was 160 kg N/ha which lowered the position of first pistillate flowers and increased the number of pistillate flowers per plant. This nitrogen rate gave also a higher number of fruit and higher yield than other treatments tested during spring and fall seasons
