The seed yield and adaptation of 12 bean varieties were studied in 23 field trials carried out in 13 locations of Greece, during the period 1976-1979. Using as criteria the average seed yields of the varieties and the regression coefficient of the Finlay and Wilkinson method expressing their adaption in different environments, it was found that: 1) The most interesting varieties were the medium-seeded no.wno.s-46 (product of F.C.P.I.) and M-10633 (Mayorquais) that combined general adaptation, stably high 11% and 12% above the general mean (185 kg/stremma* ), respectively and grain of high commercial value (1000-seed weight about 400 g). 2) Also, very interesting varieties were the small-seeded no.wno.s-35 and M-4403 (products of F.C.P.I.), more productive from the previous varieties at the adverse environments (31% and 16,5 above the general mean, respectively), but with grain of lower commercial value (1000-seed weight 230-250 g). 3) The large-seeded no.wno.s-47 (product of F.C.P.I.), with mean yield 8% below the general mean, showed specific adaptation in favorable environments, where its yields were significantly higher than the general mean
