Economics of crop farming systems in the uplands of Lumintao and Caguray watersheds, Occidental Mindoro, Philippines
1985
Rebugio, A.M.
Based on their physical characteristics and the cultivation practices involved the farms within the two watersheds were classified as upland, kaingin, paddy, upland-paddy and kaingin-paddy. Landholdings were relatively large as evidenced by the presence of idle farm portions. Average labor per hectare was 69.73 mandays and the average expenditure per hectare was 753.79 pesos. The economic acceptability index showed all farms were generally acceptable. Highest index was observed in the upland-paddy farm. Farms were already at a stage of diminishing productivity. This was indicated by less than one sum of elasticities. Differences in productivity were also observed between farms and between watersheds. Combination farms were more efficient than either upland or kaingin farms
