Monthly weight of the swamp buffaloes from birth to weaning, from birth to one year, and from birth to 43 months of age were examined for the growth pattern and the nature of weight fluctuation during these period of life. Linear growth curves were observed from birth to weaning and from birth to one year in both male and female buffaloes. The birth weights were 28.0 and 28.2 kg in the male and female, respectively, while the 8-month weights for the respective sexes were 118.1 and 123.5 kg, and the corresponding 12 month weights were 158.6 and 161.4 kg. The growth pattern of buffaloes up to 43 months of age were generally linear, but the quadratic curve was also statistically highly significant. On average, it appeared that the buffaloes started to slow down their growth rate after about the age of two years
