Fertilization of wheat crop with nitrogen up to the dose of 160 kg/ha increased significantly the grain yield, the straw yield and plant heigth. When this dose was exceeded there were no more justifiable increases. No dependence of spike number per sq m, spike length and grain number per spike on nitrogen quantity has been found. Nitrogen (0.68 t/ha) exerted the greatest impact on grain yield increase, while phosphorus and potassium had very weak impact. All 3 nutrients increased notably the straw yield where potassium acted equally to nitrogen. Grain yield is significantly correlated with the spike number per sq m, plant height and straw yield. Multiple linear regression showed that the grain yield depended notably on N, P and K uptake, but only partial coefficient for nitrogen is significant.
