Duration of weed control and weed competition of mungbean yield [Philippines]

The study was conducted to determine the critical period of weed control and weed competition on mungbean yield var. (KPS.2) from Thailand. Significant differences were observed on the fresh weed weight among the different treatments in both experiments. Herbicide treatment (Alachlor at 1.5 Kg ai/ha) did not effectively control the weeds in the experimental area. The number of seeds per pod and the length of pods in experiment 2 varied significantly. Treatments that gave lower fresh weed weight gave higher number of seeds per pod and longer pods. The bean yield was not influenced by the different treatments in both experiments. Higher percent yield reduction was noted when the mungbean plants were exposed to longer weed competition periods.
