Experiment on the population statistics of bruchids Callosobruchus maculatus F.

The studies on the population statistics of bruchids under the laboratory condition showed that the percentage of survivorship at the age of 3.5, 10.5, 17.5, 24.5, 31.5 and 38.5 days were about 91.00, about 5.585, 22.295 and 49.623 eggs respectively. The net reproductive rate, the intrinsic rate of natural increase, the finite rate of increase and the cohort generation time were about 13.145 times, 0.0804, 1.08037 and 32.04 days respectively. The transition probability of bruchids at 7,14,21,28,35 and 42 days were about 0.91, 0.84, 0.89, 0.78, 0.53 and 0.29 respectively. The growth parameters of bruchids could be used for the explaination of insect population increase and the prediction of the insect population density. It could also be used for the evaluation of the effectiveness of different control measures.
