On a farm with 210 Holstein Friesian cows in Slovenia the research work in connection between nutrition and fertility of cows and the application of results resulted in higher milk production (5770 kg milk per cow in 1980, 6990 kg in 1986). The average service period lasted in the herd 84 days. The concentrate consumption decreased in this period from 0.39 kg per kg of milk to 0.19 kg per kg of milk. Calculated milk production from forage (hay, grass silage, maize, pasture) increased from 1269 kg per cow to 4333 kg per cow. Milk production costs are 48,0 % lower than in other farms in Slovenia (167,08 din :87,00 din).
