For the investigation of subsequent (spontaneous) reproductive activities three groups of gilts (25 in each) aged 5, 5.5 and 6 months have been used, which have been treated with a single intramuscular injection of 400/200 I.U. PMSG/HCG, in order to induce the first puberty estrus. All treated gilts reacted with estrus appearing about 96 hours after gonadotropin injection. Ovulation rate in the induced estrus amounted to 14 and 16, and in the first spontaneous (which occured 19 to 20 days after the induced) between 12 and 14 egg cells. The first and the second spontaneous estrus have been manifested by 60 to 80% of gilts with the first estrus induced by gonadotropins. The conception rate, reached after the natural insemination ranged in the second spontaneous estrus from 83.3 and 100 farrowed gilts, whereby the number of liverborn piglets amounted to 9.56 to 10.87 and of weaned 9.00 to 9.50.
