Two castrated murrah crossbred male buffaloes of 2.5 years old were used to study the effect of feeding pure leucaena leaf for long period on the growth and health. The fresh leucaena leaf was fed to buffalo ad libitum. The testing period was 768 days. Feed intake of fresh leaves was 58.53 kg/h/d (or 5.88 kg/h/d, dry matter), growth rate was 0.27 kg/h/d and the buffalo was in good condition. During the experimental period, there was no evidence of toxicity from using fresh leucaena leaf for feeding for extremely long period. The dressing percentage was studied using pure tradition Thai system of cutting and the percentage of 57.38 was obtained, with appreciable marbling appearance on the meat.
