Genus Chelacaropsis Baker, 1949 is redefined, and the type species, Chelacaropsis moorei Baker is illustrated and redescribed. The male is polymorphic and illustrations are included for two forms. This mite is found on garlic in the field and storage in Thailand. New distribution records include Thailand, India, Japan and Egypt.
