The aim of the work was to set up a detection test for Cassava mosaic virus which could be used on a large scale on the African continent. Monoclonal antibodies (AcMc) were produced against an isolate of African Cassava Mosaic Virus (ACVM), and tested for use in DAS-ELISA. Some of these AcMc allow the detection of all the different isolates of ACMV tested, and also of other geminiviruses. A DAS-ELISA test using two monoclonal antibiodies has been adapted for routine use for the detection of ACMV and Tomato Yellow Leaf Curl Virus in Senegal.
