Sunshine duration in Sindos area

Sunshine duration in Sindos area is studied for a continuous period of 30 years (1949-1978) based on observation recorded in the Meteorological Station of the Cotton and Industrial Plants Institute of Sindos. Relative information and observation tables are given. Data indicate that the mean annual sunshine duration is 2409.60 hours and mean daily sunshine duration 6.59 hours. Maximum sunshine duration is observed in July with an average of 347 hours per month and with 11.19 hours per day, while the minimum is observed in January with 102.60 hours and 3.31 respectively. January is the month also with the smaller favorable daily sunshine duration and July the month with the greatest one. The absolute maximum sunshine duration (14.50 h) was recorded during June (1958) and July (1960). The average annual number of sunless days is 65 or (17.9%) of the annual total occurrences between October-March, with January has the maximum of the sunless days. Sunless days were not observed in July. The sunny days are 119 or (32.50%) of the annual number and occurrences between March-October, August and July are the months with the greatest sunny days (24.84 and 23.57 respectively). On the other hand the average annual number of full sunny days is 20 or (5.3 percent) of the annual total distributed principally in April-May-June and July. With (45-28%) frequency (165 days) have a daily sunshine duration of more than 8.50 hours. Summer is the season which has the greatest sunshine duration and spring has greater duration than autumn
