Cet article traite de l'abandon des terres au sein des regions mediterraneennes de la CEE, ou ce phenomene necessite d'urgence un controle et une gestion, etant donne son ampleur actuelle et sa tendance vers l'aggravation. Les causes et les processus de l'abandon des terres sont analyses, ainsi que les consequences au niveau ecologique et du paysage. En fonction egalement du contexte socio-economique, de nouvelles strategies sont presentees pour la gestion des terres.
