A mutant with multiple siliqua was rediscovered in the progeny of interspecific crosses between B. napus and B. campestris. 2 to 3 pistils and 10 to 16 stamina were presented in each flower of the mutant. These multiple pistils have developed more siliqua containing more seeds. Observation for many generations showed that the character of multiple siliqua was controlled by genetic factors, but less affected by environments. Four lines of B. napus and two lines of B. campestris with this mutant haved been developed. The percentage of plants with multiple siliqua was from 90 to 100, and the percentage of multiple siliqua on each plant was from 40.8 to 64.2. The number of siliqua on single plant was increased over 40 as usual, and the number of seeds on each fruit stalk was born more than 2 times as compared with normal rapeseed
