Английский. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of aversive conditioning and duration of exposure in ewes to avoid the consumption of the orange plants. Thirty-two Pelibuey ewes were alloted in two conditioned treatments (n=16): LiCl and No LiCl. Each group was further divided into two according to duration of exposure (n=8): 10 or 20 days to leaucaena (L) and orange (O) plants. No LiCl ewes presented a higher intake in O campared to LiCl ewes. The results show that aversive conditioning could be useful to train ewes to avoid the ingestion of palatable plants while grazing orchards

El objetivo fue evaluar el efecto del acondicionamiento aversivo y duracion de la exposicion en ovejas para evitar el consumo de planta de naranja (N). Treinta y dos ovejas Pelibuey fueron divididas en dos tipos de acondicionamiento: CILi y sin CILi. Cada grupo fue ademas subdividido en dos periodos de exposicion: 10 o 20 dias a las plantas de leucaena y naranja. El indice de preferencia por la N fue mayor en las ovejas sin CILi. Las ovejas sin CILi presentaron un mayor consumo de N comparado con las ovejas con CILi. Se concluye que el acondicionamiento aversivo puede ser de utilidad para evitar el consumo de plantas palatables por ovinos cuando pastorean en plantaciones
