The determination of fatty acids is a rutine analysis in laboratories with gas chromatography equipment. This paper describes a new method of preparing fatty acids methyl esters for milk fatty acids analysis using gas chromatography. The preparation of the samples involves two steps. The first step is the isolation of lipids from milk by means of a centrifuge and the second one the esterification/transesterification of lipids using trimethylsulfonium hydroxide. The use of reagents in this quich, accurate, and efficient method is minimized. Also, the method can be used for simultaneous preparation of a large number of samples.
