Distributions and species of ticks on ruminants in Southern Marmara region

This survey was carried out in eight villages of the provinces Canakkale, Balikesir, Bursa and Bilecik in Southern Marmara Region between January, 1991 and December, 1992 to determine tick species, their seasonal activities and incidences. During twenty four months, each unit was visited monthly and a total of 14.400 examination on sheep, goats and cattle, as fifty samples from each animal species, were conducted on. Ticks were collected from ten animals of each animal kind, so fourty animals every month were regulary studied from the aspect of tick burden during this period. Totaly 288 stables were inspected out for Argasid ticks
