The ostrich (Struthio camelus) was first domesticated in South Africa for its feathers in the mid-1880s. Recent years, ostrich production has gain importance in farming operations in USA, Israel, Australia, European countries and Turkey. It is important to know one of the ostrich behaviours required for successfull rearing of ostrich under farming conditions. The behaviours of the ostrich are complex and varied. According to aims ostrich behaviour could be separated three sections, such as, general, social and reproductive behaviours. Abnormal farming conditions and unsuitable environmental conditions create stresses in birds and cause them to show abnormal behaviours. Most of these behaviours are frequently repeated by birds as normal behaviours and these abnormal behaviours cause a lot of difficulties to appear in stock management. Therefore, the behaviours of the ostrich are important for commercial ostrich production. This review research was made to investigate some behaviours and to discuss the reasons of significant behavioural problems in captive ostriches
