Apiculture in Latvia's territory has a long tradition that dates back for more than two thousand years. Local honey has the highest quality of dietary requirements as well as a high number of enzymes, microelements and vitamins, and is far better than imported honey from rape, oranges and acacia. Latvian honey also has relatively low content of noxious HMF (hydrooximetilfurfurol).
