Dissipation and decontamination of carbaryl and isoprocarb residues on grapes

The experiment was laid out in a randomised block design replicated thrice on Thompson Seedless grapes at experimental plot, Efolaram, Ranga Reddy District, Andhra Pradesh, India. The insecticides viz., cabrayl 0.15% and isoprocarb 0.2% were sprayed eighteen times at weekly intervals starting from 3 to 122 days after October pruning. The samples of grape berries for dissipation studies were collected at 0,1, 3, 5,10,15 and 20 days after eighteenth spray. Whereas for decontamination studies only one day sample was collected. The initial deposits carbaryl and isoprocarb recorded as 0.27 and 0.20 mg/kg, respectively, were far below the proposed MRL (carbaryl 15 mg/kg and isoprocarb 2 mg/kg). hence the grape berries can be harvested and consumed one day after spraying. Secondly dipping of grape berries in 2% salt solution for 30 min followed by washing removed the residues of carbaryl and isoprocarb one day after eighteenth spray to an extent of 99% Hence the above procedure can be suggested.
