Signing the Maastricht Treaty and creating European Union in the year 1992 was an extremely important element of European integration. For Poland, integration with EU is a strategic goal. The foundations of European integration lie in the Europe Agreement signed in Brussels in 1991 when Poland started to be an associated state.
