Inheritance and chromosomal location of the gene for long glume phenotype found in Portuguese landraces of hexaploid wheat, Arrancada [Triticum aestivum L.]

Английский. Eight accessions characterized by having a long glume phenotype and a spring growth habit were found in Portuguese hexaploid wheat landrace group Arrancada. Three of these accessions were four-awned. Gliadin composition was not polymorphic in long glumed species T. petropavlovskyi, whereas long glumed Arrancada wheat exhibited some variation. The gene for long glume of these accessions was found to be allelic to P1 of Triticum polonicum. From the linkage analysis, the long glume gene was located approximately 39.2 cM from the cn-A1 locus, which controls the chlorina trait. From the significant deviation from a 3:1 ratio in the F2 of the ditelosomic line 7AS/PI 191834, it was confirmed that the long glume phenotype in Arrancada wheat is controlled by a gene located on the long arm of chromosome 7A, approximately 12.1 cM from the centromere. The long glume gene was independent of the gene for the awned glume phenotype, characterized by the presence of an awn-like appendage on the glume. We speculate that Arrancada hexaploid wheat with long glume originated as interspecific hybrids between several genotypes of T. aestivum from Aveiro region and T. polonicum

[Nell´ambito del gruppo portoghese di razze locali Arrancada di frumento esaploide sono state trovate otto accessioni caratterizzate da fenotipo a gluma lunga e tipo di crescita primaverile. Tre di queste accessioni erano tetra-aristate. La composizione in gliadine non era polimorfica nella specie a gluma lunga T. petropavlovskyi, mentre nel frumento Arrancada a glume lunghe si è riscontrato un po´ di variabilità. Il gene per la gluma lunga di queste accessioni è risultato allelico al P1 di Triticum polonicum. Dall´analisi del linkage, il gene gluma lunga è stato localizzato approssimativamente a 39,2 cM dal locus cn-A1, che controlla il carattere clorina. Dalla deviazione significativa dal rapporto 3:1 nella F2 della linea ditelosomica 7AS/PI 191834, è stato confermato che il fenotipo gluma lunga nel frumento Arrancada è controllato da un gene localizzato sul braccio lungo del cromosoma 7A, approssimativamente a 12,1 cM dal centromero. Il gene gluma lunga era indipendente dal fenotipo gluma aristata, caratterizzato dalla presenza di un´appendice simile a un´arista sulla gluma. Ipotizziamo che il frumento esaploide Arrancada con gluma lunga si sia originato attraverso ibridazioni interspecifiche fra numerosi genotipi di T. aestivum della regione di Aveiro e T. polonicum.]
