In an effort to serve for deodorization of pigsties, we devised a water-showering-kanreisa-net method (a water scrubber method) for removal of odorous substances of lower fat acids, especially n-butyric acid from the polluted air. Briefly, a sprinkler was installed on the roof of a pigsty both sides of which were enclosed with nets made of "kanreisa" hanging from the eaves of the house to the ground. Water was sprayed on the nets using the sprinkler and the polluted air in the pigsty was come through the wet nets. Assessmentof the method wascarried out using three pigsties in a pig farm in Gifu Prefecture. During operation of the device, lower fatty acid content of the air coming out of the pigsties were decreased. Especially, a maximum reduction of 50% of n-butyric acid content was obtained.
