In order to establish immunological analytical methods for zearalenone (ZEN), worldwide occurring in cereal grains and feeds contaminated Fusarium graminearum, specific monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) against ZEN were newly prepared. Spleen cells from the mice immunized with ZEN-bovine serum albumin were fused with SP2/O myeloma. After HAT selection and cloning, two anti-ZEN antibody producing hybridomas (ZEN. l and 2) were obtained. In the indirect competitive ELISA with ZEN. 2, the limit of detection was 0. 25 ng/mL. The ZEN. 2 mAb cross-reacted with a -zearalenol (60%), beta-zearalenol (5.7%), a -zearalanol (7.1%), and beta-zearalanol (0.9%). Our ELISA was sensitive and specific previously reported ELISAs.
