To date 14 resistance genes on 8 loci have been identified in Japan based on their characteristic resistance spectra to the standard test fungus strains. To avoid breakdown by specific fungus strains, cyclic short-term use of these genes in NILs (nearly isogenic lines) will provide an environment friendly measure for crop protection.
